Project Development

Greenbelt Africa staff have been involved in rural horticultural project development for the past 25 years from Northern through Eastern, Central and Southern Africa. These projects have included cut flowers, culinary herbs, vegetables and fodder crops both in open field and greenhouses.

Our project involvement is from a consultancy perspective and covers project planning and design, irrigation, building infrastructure, soil analysis, crop selection and management, staff training, logistics, procurement facilitation and market development.

Our experience in remote locations provides us with the insight to foresee the impending problems and resolve them prior to their occurrence.

We are very aware of the need for sustainability on these projects and work within realistic parameters of availability of materials and access to markets. For the most part, and dependent on our clients needs, we will utilize what organic local materials are available to us and will always keep these restrictions in mind during the design and planning stages.

We have always played a large role in the training and education of local participants and at all times keep the environment in the forefront of our minds. We consciously endeavor to leave an environmentally friendly foot print in our wake whilst enhancing the livelihood of the local inhabitants.
